When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, he gave them a prayer. Not a lecture on prayer. Not the doctrine of prayer. He gave them a quotable, repeatable, portable prayer (Luke 11:1-4).
Could you use the same? It seems to me that the prayers of the Bible can be distilled into one. The result is a simple, easy-to-remember, pocket-size prayer.
Once a day for 40 days I'll post a simple prayer that brings peace and rest.
Day 23
Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus' feet, and He healed them. ~Matthew 15:30
God almighty, you are capable of healing all diseases, parting the seas, and raising the dead to life. I worship you and praise you.
Father, heal my sickness. My body aches, and my heart and my soul ache, too. Bring me relief and help me not to focus just on my own needs.
Give strength to my friends who are sick and in pain. Cradle them now and heal them.
Thank you that you hear us. Thank you that Jesus healed those who were laid before him and that you still bring healing today.
In the name of the almighty God, amen.
